What p.stonn can do
Stonnington Council changed how resident and visitor parking permits work in 2026. Paper visitor permits have been phased out in favour of a digital system. The digital permit requires you to enter vehicle registration numbers into the council’s online system, and parking officers check it as they patrol the streets.
The old paper permits could be moved between cars as needed. The digital permit holds one rego at a time, so a household that relies on regular help, such as grandparents doing the childcare pickup, a nanny or a carer, has to sign in and change the rego each time a different person visits. That quickly becomes a recurring chore.
p.stonn is an attempt to make that easier. Once you have a permit set up with Stonnington Parking, you can use it to set which rego is on the permit each day of the week, add one-off bookings, and hand a visitor a QR link that puts their rego on when they arrive.
We built p.stonn because we got tired of signing in to swap the rego every time our parents came to help with the kids. You’re welcome to use it, too.
Connect once
Sign in to p.stonn with the same email address your ePermits account uses, because p.stonn can only connect to the council account that matches. Then link once with your council password: p.stonn keeps an encrypted connection so it can update your permit on your schedule, and you don’t sign in again each time.
A rego for each day
Set which rego is on the permit for each day of the week, such as the nanny on weekdays and grandparents on the weekend. If your helpers alternate, the roster can run over a fortnight or four weeks and rotate through them. p.stonn keeps the council permit in sync, so you’re not signing in every time a different person visits.
One-off bookings
When something breaks the routine, such as a weekend visitor, an overnight stay or a holiday, make a booking for a set window. Your roster takes back over the moment it ends.
Add a visitor with a QR
Tap Show visitor QR and hold up your phone. Your visitor scans it and types their number plate, and p.stonn puts it on the permit until the end of the day. They don’t need an account or anything installed.
The code stops working after 15 minutes, so it only ever works for the person standing in front of you.
A printed QR you confirm on your phone
Print a QR code once and stick it on the fridge or by the front door, wherever your visitors will see it. It keeps working until you remove it, and you confirm each scan on your phone: you get a notification with the visitor’s rego, and p.stonn changes nothing until you say yes.

A pass for regular visitors
For the people who come every week, such as the nanny or your parents, send a guest pass. They keep the link; when they arrive they tap their rego and it is on the permit until the end of the day. p.stonn tells you each time.
A pass works whenever they choose, until you delete it, so only send it to people you trust.
One tap from your own home screen
Save the quick picker to your phone and every rego in the household becomes a button. Tap one and it is on the permit until the end of the day, with no sign-in, exactly as a booking made in the app would be.
The quick picker offers every rego you have, so one you add later appears on it by itself. If the phone is lost, a new link stops the old one working.
Know when your permit changes
p.stonn emails or notifies you whenever it changes your permit, or when it can’t. Delivery isn’t guaranteed, so you stay responsible for your permit, but you’ll usually know the moment anything changes.
Before you start: get a Stonnington ePermit
p.stonn does not replace the council's system. It works on top of a permit you already hold, so you need a City of Stonnington ePermits account with at least one visitor permit first.
If you are not set up yet:
- Check you are eligible. Permits are for residents in permit areas, and eligibility depends on your property (generally limited or no off-street parking).
- Apply through the council. You can apply online, by email, by post, or in person at a customer service centre. You will usually need proof you live at the address and your vehicle details.
- Set up your online account. You manage your permits and enter regos in the council’s online system.
- Add a visitor permit. Once your account exists, apply for a visitor permit if you do not already have one. Fees apply, with a discount for concession cardholders.
- Note the email address your ePermits account uses. You’ll sign in to p.stonn with that same address, which is how p.stonn knows which council account is yours.
